I had an awesome this evening at the Native Tongue Reunion. Although it wasn't all cracked up to be. Everyone who were on the roster came through and did their thing from Chi Ali to The Jungle Brothers.

Tonight's Summerstage ended kind of early.
Dres of Black Sheep was scheduled to perform. I heard various rumors throughout the crowd on why Dres didn't appear this evening. Whatever the exact reason is. God bless him.

THIS IS HARLEM! Although I'm not from Harlem. I will be from Harlem tonight.
Kool Dj Red Alert 🚨 for the remainder of the evening taking us back with them ol' skool classic-gems from the 70s, 80s and 90s.

Let's pay our respect and homage to the Native Tongue members who aren't here physically but who are still with us in spirit...

Happy 50th Birthday Hip Hop πŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏ
Happy 36th Birthday to the Native Tongue.πŸ‘…
If I'm correct I believe the Native Tongue were started in 1987 by everyone's favorite dj in 80's "KOOL DJ RED ALERT!"

Happy Belated-Birthday to Marcus Garvey.
I know everyone came out here to see this reunion this evening.
Before we get into tonight's events we need to discuss where we at, Marcus Garvey Park.
I would like to thank Summerstage for all the bookings this summer. In the different parks throughout the city. Alot of people travel to these events but they have no idea of where they are traveling to. Let me just drop a little education on ya.
I would like to pay homage to Marcus Mosiah Garvey born in August 17, 1887.
Marcus Garvey was a Jamaican Political Activist who established the Universal Negro Improvement Communities in 1914. U. N. I. C. for short. In 1916, Marcus Garvey moved the U. N. I. C. to  Harlem, NY.
U. N. I. C. grew in membership. The purpose of the  U. N. I. C. were for black people to believe in financial independence against a white dominated society.
Marcus Garvey launched various businesses in the United States. He launched the Negro Factories Corporation, the Negro World Newspaper, the Black Star Line.
In 1923, Marcus Garvey was convicted of mail fraud. Then, four years (1927) later  deported back to Jamaica where he established himself as an coucillor.
In 1935 Marcus Garvey went to London, England to relocate the U. N. I. C.
In 1940 Marcus Garvey passed away in London, England.
In 1964 Marcus Garvey body was returned to Jamaica to be buried in the Kingston National Park.

I just wanted to drop some quick knowledge on Marcus Garvey. The park we come to visit. I wanted people to know who this man was just in case you didn't have any knowledge of him.

Rusty Jabbz Newsletter August 2023 Issue #05 "STREET RENAMING... DJ KAYSLAY"

Rest In Peace, Keith "Dj Kay Slay" Grayson
August 14, 1966 - April 17, 2022
How many of y'all remember his most favorite punchline?... " DJ KAYSLAY FROM AROUND THE WAY!"

I'm on my way uptown, East Harlem to be exact. Today they will be honoring one of the greatest Djs coming out of the NYC, Dj Kay Slay. The renaming will be taking place where Dj Kay Slay came from East River Houses on E.105th St. and 1st Ave.

There is so much I don't know about Dj Kay Slay. I admit in the beginning I wasn't a huge fan of Dj Kay Slay when I first heard his mixtapes. It took me sometime to jump onto the Dj Kay Slay bandwagon.

Once the wagon started to be riden. The Dj Kay Slay mixtape started pouring in that is why this is such a tragedy that one of my favorite Dj's had to pass away.

It's not the fact that Dj Kay Slay passed away. Everyone have there time at some point to go. What make Dj Kay Slay's death feel more of a tragedy is what the big bro had to die from, Covid-19. A sickness that couldn't be controlled. My condolences brother to your family. God bless to the Grayson family.

I'm glad I showed up on time. You know it isn't easy traveling from Brooklyn to Harlem especially on the weekends. I'm glad the unveiling wasn't done yet. When I arrived, Dj Frankie Cutlass was on the wheels of steel alongside Dj Trase. There were alot of people in the street here today for the renaming of E.105th and 1st Ave. Everyone enjoying the music just waiting for the moment.

According to Papoose, the drama hour will continue. He said, LL Cool J made it all possible that's good, The Drama King Dj Kay Slay legacy will continue to live on.

There were alot of things I didn't know about Dj Kay Slay. I never knew Dj Kay Slay use to be a graffiti artist. For instance his original Graf name use to be Spade in the "Style Wars" Hip Hop Documentary. He had other names like Dezzy Dez TFA and Skeme. There became a time in Kay Slay's graffiti life. He started to get tired of bombing on the MTA trains and yards. Dj Kay Slay was looking for something new. It was 1983 when Dj Kay Slay career took off.

The party is about to shut down. The permit wasn't for all day. It doesn't matter I still had a good time. I'm glad I came. I never seen anything like this before. I always wanted to go to a street renaming. Never went to BIGs. Never went PUNs. Never went to Pumpkinheads. It was a pleasure witnessing my first street renaming. It's not just any renaming. The street have been renamed to a man that's worthy. He's more than a man. He's THE KIIINNNGGG!!! Dj Kay Slay The Drama King. Congratulations to the legendary Dj Kay Slay. πŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏ

Rusty Jabbz Newsletter August 2023 Issue #04 "HIP HOP TURNS 50 TODAY!"

Today is the day that Hip Hop was born, August 11, 1973 in the Bronx on Sedgwick
Avenue. Give it up to the man who created hip hop, Dj Kool Herc.
How many of y'all know the first hip hop record they ever heard? My first hip hop record ever heard was Frankie Smith "The Double Dutch Bus". I remember when my older brother played that record. The Double Dutch Bus, it was like something I never heard before. Then my brother started playing alot of other records around the crib like Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five "The Message", Sugarhill Gang "Rapper's  Delight", Afrika Bambaataa and the Soul Sonic Force "Planet Rock". Hearing tunes like those back then made me want to sign up and become apart of the Hip Hop culture.
I'm glad I signed up. 50 years and I'm still representing, despite the garbage shit that's coming out now.

There are alot of events going on tonight for the 50th of Hip Hop. The main one taking place tonight is in the Bronx at the Yankees stadium. Alot of high-class emcees, old school and new school will be performing tonight. Alot of high-class celebrities will be in the house as well. Put your hands together for Hip Hop. πŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏ
I hope everyone will have a good time but I have my mind set for tonight at Prospect Park. BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn and Hip Hop 50 along with Digable Planets 30, WOOOO!
Digable Planets is 30 years old today that's what's up. πŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏ  I know alot of y'all came out tonight for Hip Hop 50. It look real good to see the capacity of the crowd come out for Digable Planets.
How many of y'all even know who Digable Planets is?
Can y'all name each member of the group?
What were there particular style of Hip Hop?
From the massive amount of people inside the park tonight. I believe my questions are answered.
Digable Planets celebrating 30 years for being together. I believe its more than just celebrating 30 years for being together. It's celebrating 30 years as a group. Give it up to the hip hop groups. The longest lasting, longest running hip hop group. Give a big round of applause to Digable Planets. πŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏ

The Digable Planets 30th year anniversary was off the hook. My favorite part of the show was when Digable Planets introduced there two bass guitarist and they had there own set going on. Killing it on the strings, lol.

I know everyone loved it but let's not forget our openers. I missed the first act but I arrived on time to witness a remarkable emcee from the midwest. Who goes by the name, Kari Faux. She put on a good show with a plethora of good music. I recall, Kari stating she haven't been in the game for four years now. After what I've heard, she's ready to make her come back.

I just want to thank everyone for coming out tonight. I had a great time. It isn't often that I come out my home, especially lately with my health. I'am glad I came tonight to be among a crowd of Hip Hop followers and honor the culture for the next 50 years. "HAPPY 50TH BIRTHDAY HIP HOP!"

This Sunday, August 13th I hope everyone will be in attendance for the street naming of Dj KaySlay (RIP)

Rusty Jabbz Newsletter August 2023 Issue #03 "THE TIME IS NOW!"

There comes a time in your life where you have to make changes. Before I go any further on the blog. I do not want to confuse my original readers. Today we're going to have a conversation about people being taken for granted for their homes. This is something that have been going on for quite a few years now. Your probably thinking, "Spin why are you bringing up this topic?" If anyone is wondering that. It's because of a good friend of mine. I would like to give a big shout out to my homegirl, Latoya. If it wasn't for her getting me interested into the subject at hand. I wouldn't have met a cool brother today. Give a salute 🫑 and a round of applause πŸ‘πŸΏ πŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏ to Alonde LeGrand. I had the pleasure of meeting this brother. I was able to get a better understanding of why people are being bought out of their homes.
Alonde Grand is from Crown Heights. There are alot of homes in these neighborhoods worth more in property value than the original cost of the home. In particular Alonde's home. According to Alonde, he has a home of history that been there since 1926. We're talking 97 years this home have been passed down within the family.
Now, this is where it gets juicy. I'm not a realtor but you can imagine the cost of a home like that today. A 97 year old home in Brooklyn. It explains alot of things. The constant harassment of Alonde and his family. The eviction notices posting. What Alonde told me, What Babylon did?  The Pigs πŸ– bursting inside of Alonde's home from the back door with guns blazing, ordering them to leave there own home. That's the lowest of the lowest coming from the police. They treated my brother like he's a drug dealer. Bursting into his home, like they were bursting into a trap house. This is why, I don't fuck with C-Cypher.
Alonde is going to continue to live there. This home will remain in the family. I actually think this is beautiful. To own something for this long particularly a house. Most definitely that is cool. I support Alonde Legrande on any efforts.
Anyone looking to support Alonde LeGrand and his struggles become apart of his non-profit organization, "Face Us" and "No Family Left Behind"
Once again, thank you to my homegirl Latoya I really appreciate all of this.πŸ‘πŸΏ
To Alonde LeGrand, I had a pleasant afternoon with you. I'am sorry you are going through it. I hope you can get your situation resolved and at the same time continue helping other people in your community. Your a good brother. We need more positive African-American men in our community. "RESPECT!"  πŸ€œπŸΎπŸ€›πŸΎ

Rusty Jabbz Newsletter August 2023 Issue #02 "HIP HOP 50th SPECIAL EDITION"

Dj Handspin Dinero is back, lol. No WWE wrestling editing today. Let's go back 50 years of Hip Hop where it all began, 1520 Sedgwick Avenue created by legendary Dj Kool Herc and so many other mixmasters from The Bronx like Afrika Bambaataa, Grandmaster Flash, Grandwizard Theodore, Kid Capri. Hip Hop was created in The Bronx. "Up in The Bronx where the people were fresh." I bet y'all don't remember who wrote that line.

I'm on my way to the Uncle Ralph Hip Hop 50th Special Edition in Coney Island on the  amphitheater.
It turns out I wasn't late. The event haven't even began yet. A long line of real Hip Hoppers. Dam man, I wasn't expecting to stand in the hot sun.
I finally made through it the door. For a moment I was getting worried. I started thinking you need a ticket to attend this event. Then I said, nuh Uncle Ralph wouldn't do that.

Good blessings, to Ray DeJohn. I don't know the last time I've seen this man on Video Music Box. Ray DeJohn that's where he got his start. If it wasn't for Uncle Ralph, no one would know who Ray DeJohn is. I heard Ray DeJohn had stroke recently. I'm just happy to see you've survived it.

Damn, Rah Digga ain't getting no love. The crowd is very lackadaisical. They acting like they never heard of Rah Digga. Rah Digga is out here hyping up the crowd for Rampage.
Rah Digga got an album coming out in a couple of months. From this crowds reaction I don't think they care. Flipmode Squad is working on a new album. Where was Rampage? I can't say, Busta Rhymes. You think Busta Rhymes would come out to an event like this in Coney Island. At least Rampage is still hood. People still remember who he is.

Nice and Smooth closing out the night. I had an awesome night. I have an awesome night every year in Coney Island at the Amphitheater. It's been tradition for me. Enjoying a day of hip hop in the hot sun on the Coney Island boardwalk. Enjoying some of my emcee finest.
I just want to thank all the hip hop heads who came out today. I hope y'all had fun and a good time with your family.
I hope everyone enjoyed the performances. I know they enjoyed the food, the endo and the beer. I can tell from the modelo cans all over the place. I just want to thank everyone that's getting high up in here. I forgot to bring my weed. I don't think I needed too. There's so much chronic smoke in the air. I'm getting high off of 2nd hand smoke, lol.
