RUSTY JABBZ NEWSLETTER
JULY 2011, ISSUE # 03
This is a Saturday, I'll never forget. From the moment I first known of Raekwon's appearance at Prospect Park. I knew, I will be in for a treat. Special treats came this morning, when receiving an email and noticing Neek The Exotic/ Large Professor and Skyzoo has been added to tonight's card. Ummm!!!, I love me some, Skyzoo. Can this concert get any better?
I spent most of my day in the Park Slope area. I heard of an block party goin' down on 5th and St John. I suppose that's the move if your an Park Slopian but tonight's event is sponsored in part by Lyricist Lounge and this is for the whole effin' borough. (BROOKLYN)
I wanted something special tonight to assist with my videography. I went Downtown Brooklyn to Best Buy looking for a singular pod and ended up buying a mini desktop tripod. I wanted a object that, I can lift over the crowd's heads. I'm sick and tired of having unnecessary footage captured on film.
Lot of good that did for me considering my misfortune. I would like to apologize to all my readers and viewers of both, rustyjabbz and worldwidejabbz. I know everyone was expecting a lot more. I myself was expecting to record a lot more. It's unfortunate that we lose control over things that we can't always conquer or have no understanding too.
Tonight was not a bad night with only five acts. Five outstanding acts, one which is my personal favorite Skyzoo. I been a fan of Skyzoo ever since his debut of, "The Salvation" and my love for him just continue to grow. There's only but so many few good emcees left hence the reason why we all came out here tonight. We came out here to witness real hip hop in its purists and realest form.
I taken the liberty to lay out a few flicks captured from tonight's event. As you can see some of the photographs may not be visual due to my point of viewing. I did the best I can considering all the toxic fumes I had to endure coming from you cigarette smokers of all brands. Whoo, spelled like tobacco road up in there. Nonetheless, there isn't any amount of abuse that can stop me from entertaining my readers and supporters.
First up on the stage and this is funny. Although I didn't think it was funny when I first heard it. The host introducing, Duck Down new recording artist, J-Zone. There was a smile on my face when I heard that. J-Zone been added to tonight's event and he's on Duck Down, whoa this day just keep gettin' better and better. Until, Skyzoo entered the stage and that's when I realized it was a pampas mistake made by an embassle of a host. I know, Skyzoo, was a tad upset by that mis-introduction but not really being that he's a man of talent and great impression. He'll show n prove, whose who? He'll be throwing many, frisbees throughout the crowd and can't any of us catch them because he's just that good.
Next up coming to the stage were, Neek The Exotic/ Large Professor followed by Joell Ortiz, both acts pulled off amazing performances. I think everyone knows, who they came out here to see tonight. Besides the main event, Raekwon. Smif n Wessun was up next, performing all the classics. The group that been together, 5 album strong and still going very rarely you have that. Emcees come and go, groups come and go. That is what bring us out here right now, the hip hop purity, the hip hop unity, the hip hop alliance. What an alliance to witness Smif n Wessun and the legendary, Pete Rock work together and produced "Monumental" they couldn't have picked a better name.
Which bring us to our main event of the evening. Everybody say, "WU- TANG!" "WU-TANG!" "WU-TANG!" "WU-TANG!" "WU-TANG!" "WU-TANG!" "WU-TANG!" "WU-TANG!"
This is what I've been waitin' for all night. I've never seen, Raekwon perform solo, before without his team. He performed all the Raekwon' classics and collabos. Particularly, this song remained in my head after the show was over "Rock n Roll (Bon Jovi)" that was one of Rae's endo tunes. Good lookin' to my homie, Sha for blessin' me with that bag it came in handy for some reason.
Tonight was all about hip hop, lyricist lounge and doing it in the park. What a lovely tune Raekwon chosen to end his performance and the night over the, Rock Creek Park classic.
Tonight has been the night. Me and my homie, Sha came out here to enjoy some real, live hip hop. Thank you to tonight's performer's Skyzoo, Neek The Exotic, Large Professor, Joell Ortiz, Smif N Wessun, Pete Rock, Sean Price, Rock, Raekwon The Chef.
Thank you to both, Skyzoo and Smif n Wessun for such outstanding performances of their latest releases. Which opt me to purchase them at the Duck Down table. I'll forever cherish this night just like your music.
Peace to all my dudes that I bumped heads with tonight; Polarity, Rio, Corporate, Danny Sun, Sincere and Fresh Daily. Keep in mind, summer is not over if you look down below. I got two more summer saturday bangers.
