Rusty Jabbz Newsletter Jan. 2009

Akon "FREEDOM" Konvict Music/SRC/Universal Records
4.5 JABBZ

Before, I start this review I just wanna say to that bitchass wrestler, Santino Murello who missed pronounced Akon's name. His name is AKON not ACORN. Instead of dissing singers Santino maybe you should focus on winning matches and stop looking like Beth Phoenix's bitch all the time. I just wanted to get that off my chess. I try to make a vow to only review rap artist and not r and b artist but every now and then you have a r and b artist that touches your average die hard hip hop head. The cd starts off w/ the opening hitmaker, "Right Now (Na Na Na) and "Beautiful w/ Colby O'Donis and Kardinall Offishall". I gave this album 4.5 jabbz, I think thats unfair to myself and Akon becuz Akon deserves 5 jabbz but imma chill and leave it at 4.5, after all I don't wanna git 2 gassed. Although, there are lovely songs on this album and it'll definitely be a best buy. My ultimate favorite bangerz off this album that really touched a nigga's heart were, "Sunny day w/ Wyclef", "Birthmark" and the title cut, "Freedom". Freedom, was the cds finale that song touched me the most because in life thats what we still seeking. Lincoln abolished slavery in 1865 but our people aren't still free yet. Just recently, I heard Akon's Freedom on a episode of CSI Miami. The concept of the episode allowed the song to blend well as a soundtrack. There are other songs off the this album that you'll enjoy as well like I said it is a "BEST BUY!"

MEMORABLE BIGGIE QUOTABLES

"JUICY"
It was all a dream. I used to read word up magazine. Salt n Pepa & Heavy D up in the limousine. Hangin' pictures on my wall every saturday rap attack Mr Magic Marley Marl. I let my tape rock till my tape popped smokin' weed & bambou sippin' on private stock. Way back when I had the red and black lumberjack with the hat to match. Remember, Rappin' Duke The Ha The Ha you never thought that hip hop would take it this far. Now, I'm in the limelight cause I rhyme tight. Time to get paid blow up like the World Trade. Born sinner, the opposite of a winner. Remember, when I used to eat sardines for dinner. Peace to Ron G, Brucie B, Kid Capri, Funkmaster Flex, Luv Bug Starski. I'm blowin' up like you thought I would call the crib same number, same hood. It's All Good!

" I make your mouth piece obese like De la Reese. When I release, you lose teeth like Lil' Cease"
(taken from the Long Kiss Goodnight)

" I was a terror since the public school error. Bathroom passes, cuttin' classes, squeezin' asses.
Smokin' blunts was a daily routine since thirteen a chubby nigga on the scene"
(taken from Party and Bullshit)

" Biggie bag bitches from barbecues to barmitzvah"

" B that is, I that is, G wiz muthafuckaz still in my biz. Don't you know my nigga, Gutta fuckin'
kidnap kids fuck 'em in their ass throw 'em over the bridge. That's how it is, my shit is layed
out, fuck that beef shit that shit is played out."
(taken from What's Beef?)

" What's Beef?... Beef is when you need 2 cats to go to sleep. Beef is when your moms aint safe
up in the streets. Beef is when I C U, guaranteed to be in I C U.
One more time
What's Beef?... Beef is when you make your enemy start your jeep. Beef is when you roll no
less than 30 deep. Beef is when I C I, guaranteed to be in I C U."
And I'm through

NOTORIOUS MOVIE AND SOUNDTRACK

NOTORIOUS MOVIE AND
SOUNDTRACK
5 JABBZ

Let me just start off by saying, Thanx to Jamal Woolard for doing a wonderful job portraying Big E Smalls in last weekends blockbuster, NOTORIOUS. For all you new emcees I hope yall went to the theater with your pencils and notebooks to relax and take notes and learn what it means to be a dangerous emcee. For those of you who haven't seen the Big E Smalls documentary, "Bigger Than Life". I strongly advise you to watch the documentary first so this way you stay insync. The movie is constructed the same way as the is constructed the same way as the documentary. The documentary starts off with people talking about Biggie's up bringing in Bed Stuy all the way to the fatal shooting death on March 9, 1997. That is exactly the way the movie was made. As I sat there and watched, "NOTORIOUS" I felt like I was watching "The Bigger Than Life" documentary. Of course the documentary was much better than the movie only because with the documentary you have Big's family and peoples talking about The Brooklyn Icon Emcee along with footages of events, shows and interviews. The movie was so DOPE, I actually went to the movies to see it and to all my niggaz that know me, Handspin is str8 up a bootleg nigga but outta respect for BIG. I had to see it on the big screen but the next day I went to my old lady on Flatbush ave and copped the bootleg copy to bang in my crib and thats not all when the dvd comes out in stores officially imma cop it again. You know Dj Handspin is only gonna rep and support the real hip hop. As for the soundtrack to the movie it was a collection of some classic Big joints. Settin' off the cd was the Bone & Biggie "Notorious Thugs". There were alotta surprises in between the cd like the Jay Z & Santogold "Brooklyn Go Hard" sounds sort of similar to Thirstin Howl & Unique "Brooklyn Hard Rock". Similar in the sense where you have a Brooklyn born emcee and woman on the track doing the hook with U. K. type accent with a kinda caribbean appeal. Both tracks have the word hard in the title. The only difference in the songs is that one song is harder than the other on. My man, J. A. D. A. got beef with the feds and the D. A. (I like saying that) steps in with a 2009 version of, "We alwayz love Big Poppa". Jada & Faith in just one verse spits a letter to Big, ironically named, "Letter To Big" just showing love, gratitude and heartfelt feelings toward the Big Poppa. Big Poppa jr, Lil' CJ Wallace raps alongside with his dad on the, "One More Chance-Legacy Remix". You know from the movie he looks like a lil' Biggie but just a lil' lighter. The soundtrack has all the classic of The Notorious Big with "Hypnotize", "Party and Bullshit" and "Warning" those were top notch Biggie bangaz but having the demo versions added to the soundtrack from when he was just the chubby dark skinned kid from The Stuy running with OGB. Dj Fifty, a childhood friend of BIG loaning the soundtrack 3 unreleased and unheard of Big E. Smalls joints. I aint talking about Notorious Big joints, I'm talking about before he bacame that. We got a chance to hear Big E. Smalls spit fire on the songs. "Microphone Murderer", "Guaranteed Raw" and "Love No Ho" these were the 3 songs chosen for the soundtrack although a tad bit immature but it has that organic sound that gives you a natural hip hop vibe. You know that str8 up being in the basement and spitting over 2 turntables and a mic whip appeal. I could go on for days speaking about the Notorious movie and soundtrack but you all gotta go out there and experience my feelings yourself. I been in a BIG zone since the debut of the movie on Jan. 16, 2009. I decided to declare it NOTORIOUS DAY! Thats how much I missed Big Poppa as long as I have all of the Biggie catalogues, along with the Bigger Than Life documentary and now the Notorious dvd. Big will never be forgotten, he'll live through me. Hell, I'll probably be bumping Big when I'm 90 years sittin' in a rockin' chair. Just singin', rappin', drinkin', smokin' str8 east coastin'.
This have been Dj Handspin Dinero sending my love, respect and tribute to Christopher "Notorious Big" Wallace. "PEACE!"

WE ARE READY TO HAVE A BLACK PRESIDENT BEE ATCHHH!!!

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 44TH PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA:

America my country born and raised in. Finally elected an original man, well part original but still its an honor and a priviledge to be alive and witness this. Its so exciting, I had to write a blog tonight. I'm writing this blog and tryin' not to tear as I listen to Nas's Black President in the background. 2pac is over the hook saying, "Although it seems heaven sent we aint ready to have a black president." I wish Tupac was alive to eat those words and celebrate with us in joy and triumph. This is history to me, I'm glad to be apart of history. I don't care what happens to me for the rest of my life. I could get shot, stabbed, fucked up or imprisoned it doesn't matter. No amount of punishment or trials and tribulations we face in life will ever compare to seeing the first african-american
president of the United States of America.

ALI VEGAS - "AMERICA'S PRINCE"
3 JABBZ

We all know that old saying, " What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas". However, in this case we're not talking about a western city. We're talking about the Southside Jamaica, Queens emcee, Ali Vegas. Ali Vegas introduces himself as the self proclaimed, America's Prince. This cd is a prequel to the forthcoming album, "Generation Gap 2: The Sequel" which was scheduled for a 1st quarter of 2008 release but it seems due to lack of support, marketing and promotions The America's Prince album was on the market all the way through 2008. America's Prince official release date, Jan. 15, 2008 After waiting 9 years for Ali Vegas's debut in the rap game. This lp sounds like the lp that should have been released 9 years ago due to the immaturity of the lyrics and music. America's Prince is an album more suitable and designed for Queens, New York streets. For the last 9 years we've been unknown and unaware to the man known as Ali Vegas. Now that Ali Vegas presence is here its hard to acknowledge his work because where was his work for the last 9 years. It's like, Ali Vegas is finally here with a debut and you have nuthin' more to say but, "BIG WHUP!" There is no disrespect aiming towards Ali Vegas there are on and popping joints you can wild out too such as, "Bloodline", "King of NY", "Alphabeta Paper", "This Little Light" "War" and the album's finale, "Hustle Hard". These are a few cd bangaz that'll get ya adrenaline flowing to hear more from Ali Vegas be sure to visit, myspace.com/alivegas or richsoil.com. Ali Vegas, the one emcee who compelled in comparison with Nas 9 years ago. But times have changed and there is no longer any lyrical similarities. Ali Vegas, skill level have dropped. Ali Vegas can not be referred to anyone he's just an ordinary emcee on the grind. It's true, what I say, "Whatever happened to Ali Vegas, should stay in Ali Vegas!!"
