Rusty Jabbz Newsletter October 2019 Issue #04 "Black and Blue Movie Screening"

Impromptu movie night about to go down. I'am here this evening at the Regal cinema. I've purchased these tickets today. Approximately 09 hours ago. This is probably the first time I ever did something like this. Off of a straight whim.

I have my heart set on tonight's cinema performance. I'am looking forward to this film, "Black and Blue" starring in the film, Naomie Harris and R&B heartthrob, Tyrese Gibson. Who gain his popularity from films like "Baby Boy" directed by the honorable John Singleton (RIP).

"Black and Blue" making its in theater debut, last night. The film is set in one of the roughest, toughest and most dangerous cities in the United States, New Orleans, Louisiana. The film is about a young African American police woman named Alicia West (played by Naomie Harris). Who happens to be a rookie police with a heart and compassion for the people. According to her cop companions, she's just new. Basically, specifying she doesn't know anything about the New Orleans Police Department yet.

The film starts off at the very beginning where, Officer West is seen jogging through her own community until stopped by two bigot police officers claiming they're looking for a suspect who matches her description. Once the two bigot police officers realize, she's part of the blue. Of course they release her. It was at that point of the film where I realized I'm going to enjoy tonight's presentation. From that first scene on, everything has been in a whirlwind for Officer West.

The film has an awesome story to tell that sits around the concept of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. As well as, knowing what side you are on.

The film is set in the 9th ward slums of New Orleans, Kingston Avenue. Where Officer West may have seen something that she shouldn't have seen. An illegal meeting going down inside an abandoned power plant involving her nightshift partner, Officer Deacon Brown and two Narcotics police officers.

I mentioned that Officer West happens to be a rookie and there is something particular that a rookie has attached to their vest. Something that can possibly change a person's life when presented to the wrong or right people. Depending on how you look at the situation.

Now, during that whole illegal meeting inside the abandoned power plant. Officer West manage to record what took place inside that power plant. I must first say, none of this would of occurred if Officer West's partner Officer Brown didn't bring her there in the first place. I'am aware of Officer Brown telling Officer West to sit tight inside the squad car. Which she probably would of done if she didn't hear that first gunshot blast. Rookie or no rookie, a police officer first instant is to react. So because of Officer Brown screw up, Officer West manage to witness the killings of the two drug dealers which were recorded onto her rookie cam.

The meeting being conducted by Officer Malone. Officer Malone, a bad ass police officer with one mission on his mind, "to clean up the crap living on the Kingston Avenue grounds."

Officer West witnessed the two narcotics officers killing the two drug dealers from Kingston Avenue. One of the drug dealers who were killed was named, Zero. A very popular dealer in the Kingston Avenue area. This Zero character is not only popular within the community. He happens to be the nephew of Drug Kingpin, Darius.

Officer Malone is willing to do anything to retrieve the rookie cam off of Officer West. Even if it included a, by any means necessary tactic. Officer Malone would even go as low to setting up Officer West to make it look as if, she was the killer of Zero. Which was actually a brilliant plan. Officer Malone was a bastard in this film. He didn't just set up Officer West with a murder. He also told the Drug Kingpin, Darius directly to his face that Officer West was the culprit of the killing of Zero. Darius made sure his crew was on deck with the "Kill Officer West" movement.
Officer Malone releasing a bolo over the police switchboard blackballing Officer West. Officer West was a marked woman.

New Orleans police officers and Kingston Avenue did not mix well. Considering the fact that Kingston Avenue is Alicia West childhood neighborhood and her old neighborhood isn't very fond of her decision to crossover into the law enforcement field. Officer West is pretty much stranded depending on the assistance of one person from her childhood, Mouse (played by Tyrese Gibson). Mouse is willing to ride or die with her until this rookie cam is uploaded onto the police feed. Mouse is willing to risk his own life to see to it that the N.O.P.D. finally receive some persecution.

This movie was straight awesome. A game of cat and mouse throughout the 09th ward of New Orleans.

Another one of my favorite scenes of the movie. There came a part where Officer West was willing to give in and go directly to Darius and state her claim. Officer West figured if, she can get Darius to witness the truth on the rookie cam about Officer Malone, perhaps he'll be on her side. A much better idea. Officer West manage to get Darius and his crew to see, eye to eye. Darius was upset over the deceit coming from Officer Malone. Darius wanted revenge.

Officer Malone starting to realize its too late, he's willing to go after Officer West and take down every thug/ drug dealer in that community. Even if it included taking down, The Kingpin Darius. Officer Malone wasn't going to stop at anything until he retrieves the rookie cam.

Officer West and Officer Malone did finally get there one on one face off live in the middle of the projects going blow for blow. Residents with the camera phones  recording. Cops on the rooftop with the rifles aiming at Officer West ordering her to give up. It wasn't until that final second after Mouse disguised as a policeman sneaking himself inside the N.O.P.D. control center and uploading the file on rookie cam. Once the Captain got a hold of that data. She reached out over the walkie talkies ordering every officer to stand down and exonerating Officer West. What a great moment, Officer West finally accomplished what she wanted to do for the past 48 hours being trapped inside Kingston Avenue.

What a great movie, lol. I definitely loved the ending during the closing credits.  Closing it out with the classic, Krs One record "Sound of the Police." 👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Anyone interested in what I witnessed this evening. I recommend, "Black and Blue" as a good movie to watch. As well as, some new movies coming our way pretty soon for the fall/ winter season....
