RUSTY JABBZ NEWSLETTER JULY 2015 ISSUE #03 "ROCKSTEADY 38TH ANNIVERSARY @ CENTRAL PARK/ RUMSEY FIELD"
It is time for some, "Sunday Funday". My T-shirt would have fit in perfect for today's occasion. It have been 38 years of Rock Steadies existence on the music scene. I specified music because that is what hip hop become over the years. If it wasn't for New York's Original Breakers and Dj's, our genre wouldn't still be alive.
Before I go, any further. I would like to pay respect to someone very near to me, my cousin Chucky celebrating his birthday today. I know, my cousin would do anything than be where he currently is, celebrating his birthday. I wish, he was here with me too. I'll do anything to have him by my side today in such great spirit of hip hop and foundation. Stay up, Chuck! Hold ya head, fam! I'm on my way out to Rocksteady. I'll ride for the both of us..... "BOOOOYEOW!"
It have been a longtime since I attended an Rocksteady affair. I don't know, what to expect. I'm just looking to have a good time, particularly on a Sunday. I want something different than my typical, garbage pick up Sundays @ Prospect Park. However, there were a few Sundays back I attended the NYC Gay Pride Parade. It didn't make much of a big deal. I still attended work early in the day. I want me a Sunday that's a Funday, all day with no work interruptions. That's what my heart is set on for today.
I better get there soon. These trains are taking forever. It's already, 3:55pm. I don't know, how long its going to take to get me there. I do, know this. The event is scheduled to end at 7pm. The M. T. A. isn't giving me enough time to party and b. s., today. I can't wait for no more locals, not running. It seems, every train are turning express after 59th St. That isn't all that's ruining my day. The one day, I decided to utilize Citi Bikes not a docking station in the Columbus Circle vicinity. I ended up, trooping all the way to 72nd St and then through the park in search of Rumsey Field.
What a journey? The fun have just begun so to speak. It wasn't the fun I expected and everyone else. Everyone perhaps decided to make due. I arrived, at the gate and the first thing I hear coming from the guards is.... "WE ARE SORRY BUT THE GATES ARE CLOSED. WE ARE NOW, FULL TO CAPACITY. YOU MUST CLEAR THE ENTRANCE WAY!!!"
I didn't give a shit about the event being full to capacity. I told them, "I didn't travel all the way up here, struggling on the subway in this hot ass weather to hear, gates closed and full to capacity."
I came out here today to see, Whodini perform. It just happen to be unfortunate, today. I won't be seeing, Whodini. I'll be listening to Whodini. Whatever, its all good! It's better than nothing.

RUSTY JABBZ NEWSLETTER JULY 2015 ISSUE #02 "TENTH YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE BROOKLYN HIP HOP FESTIVAL!"
What a nice weekend, we had this past Saturday. I hope everyone enjoyed, this Saturdays past Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival. It have been two years since I attended the festivals. I know that isn't a longtime. It felt like such a hiatus to me. I was happy to be among hip hop lovers and b-boys/ b-girls, just one more time. That's just how it may probably be, one more time. Despite the fresh n the defness, of what took place throughout the afternoon. I think its time for me to hang it up and let others who haven't experience the excitement of the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival, take part in good time hip hop fun.
Truthly, my main purpose here this afternoon was to only see the performances of Mobb Deep. So, you can imagine how upset I felt when all of the pictures I've taken during their performance did not come out. I apologize to my rusty jabbers for the lack of celebrity photographs. I was on a Mobb Deep dick riding mood, lol. To be honest, the talent that came out today wasn't that good. Let's be serious, I don't think people in the crowd want to see, Freeway. Where was Beanie Sigel?
I admit, Common was the true highlight of the day. It's just sad that I missed his performance. I spent 95% of it sitting underneath the ems booth. No thanks to the crowd and the sun in the sky. I kept having these flashes being around all these smoking goons. Smoking, God knows what! Whatever it is, they're killing me from all that smoke I keep inhaling. I just needed to sit down and rest and feed myself. Common performance was still good. I can still see him rock out from all the way over here. Well, I did manage to capture, Miss Brooklyn aka Foxy Brown. Common's special guest visitor of the evening. Nuff respect to Common and Inga Marchand, lol. (That's right I blasted her government all over my blog.) I enjoyed the last performance BROOOOOKLYN!!!!...... Foxy Brown and Common, shutting down the night. What a odd combination? I don't think, these two ever made a song together. At least, not to my knowledge. I learned something new this weekend. On my next visit to any park concert. I will bring a oxygen mask along with me, lol.
I just want to thank everyone who came out today and stayed till the ending. There might be some of you who haven't notice the expansion in time of the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival. There was a time, when the festival went no later than, either 6 or 7 o'clock. Check out the time now, it's a few minutes pass 9 o'clock. Everyone here walking through them gates with smiles on their faces, some may be a lil' tipsy. However, they're walking let's hope everyone get home safely.
Thank you, once again to the Brooklyn Bodega for putting on a hell of a decade of total non-stop hip hop action performances.

Whoo, hoo I would like to thank everyone who came out here, this evening to the memorial of the Diaz families tribute and the hip hop legacy loss of P.H. I would like to thank, MCMI for tonight's invite and in my return, rustyjabbz will have its honor over P.H., God bless and rest in power.
